Michael Rosenbaum on Returning to Smallville

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 22 - 2011

The Courier Press caught up with actor Michael Rosenbaum, who took a few minutes to discuss his reprisal of the role of Lex Luthor for the series finale of Smallville.

One point the actor continues to emphasize is that his primary reason for returning to the show is that it's something he owes the fans.

“I just felt like it was the right thing to do,” said Rosenbaum. “I felt the fans created the show and they followed me at such a level that I couldn’t say no. I was starting to hear voices. I felt after 160 episodes, that was it. But the fans didn’t think so. I’m doing it for them. I’ve got to make the fans happy. Lex is an integral part of the show. No one expects a show to last 10 years. I gave them seven years and I thought it was pretty commendable. Now it’s been on three more years. Clark is starting to look like he’s in his 30s. “Obviously there’s unfinished business between Clark and Lex that have got to get resolved,” said Rosenbaum. “Our future is depending on it.”

Watch How it all Started, April 8th on the CW

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 17 - 2011

To help set the stage for Smallville‘s final episodes, TV Guide reports The CW will re-air the show’s pilot on April 8.

Originally broadcast on Oct. 16, 2001, on The CW’s predecessor The WB, the pilot began with a small spacecraft carrying an alien boy crashing in Smallville during a meteor shower that killed young Lana Lang’s parents and left Lex Luthor bald. Jumping forward 12 years, the episode quickly established the rivalry between Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), and introduced viewers to mainstays Lana (Kristin Kreuk), Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack), Pete Ross (Sam Jones III) and Whitney Fordman (Eric Johnson). It’s the last character who was responsible for the most iconic image of that first season, Clark tied to a scarecrow pole with a red “S” painted on his chest (a variation of that scene was used to promote the series’ debut).

The April 8 rebroadcast will be followed by a repeat of Supernatural. Both series will return with new episodes the following Friday. Smallville‘s two-hour season finale — complete with Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor — will air on May 13.

‘Meet The New Superman’ in this week’s Entertainment Weekly

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 17 - 2011

NEW YORK – Henry Cavill is Hollywood's newest superhero thanks in part to an all-star team of filmmakers (including Christopher Nolan and Zack Synder) that are set to relaunch the truest and bluest of all superheroes: Superman. This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly brings an exclusive look at the British man in tights, whose career may break the speed of sound. To become Hollywood's new Man of Steel, Henry Cavill had to pass the Laugh Test. To wit: Could he wear the Superman suit without anyone giggling? And not just any Superman suit. To shoot his screen test last month, the 27-year-old British actor donned a replica of the costume Christopher Reeve wore in director Richard Donner's classic 1978 film. By today's standards, those sky blue spandex threads with the iconic S shield on the chest look dated-and hence an effective yardstick for the team now charged with making Superman fly for 21st-century moviegoers. "If you can put on that suit and pull it off," says director Zack Snyder, "that's an awesome achievement."

Meet Conner Kent – The Latest MISTAKE to come to Smallville!

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 14 - 2011

Smallville recently left fans with the revelation that Alexander Luthor was impervious to a needle penetrating his skin and the reason why seems to have been revealed.

Michael Ausiello of TVLine.com reports that Alexander will soon be revealed to be none other Conner Kent who is made up of the DNA of both Lex Luthor and Clark Kent.

Executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders have revealed to TVLine that "Conner's journey is manipulated by a master. Luckily, someone knows more about Conner's life than he does. But he should be wary of strangers bearing gifts."

Ausiello goes on to state that Alexander's secret identity will be revealed in upcoming episode "Scion" and that Conner will be revealed as something of a "Blur fanboy."

Our Worst Fears Have Been Proven..

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 11 - 2011

EW.com are reporting that Michael Rosenbaum will not return to the 10th and final season of "Smallville" to reprise his role of Lex Luthor.

"He has put the show behind him and moved on," says a knowledgeable source. "He's pursuing his other creative outlet [writing]. By all indications, he is not going to be involved."

EW has learned that Michael Rosenbaum has repeatedly rebuffed attempts by producers this season to get him back on The CW's show to reprise his role as Luthor in the finale.

There's still a small window of opportunity for Michael to change his mind, with the show wrapping production within the next two months, but it doesn't look likely.
