Kevin Smith on Superman Returns and the Reboot

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 10 - 2011

This guy should run for office or something.  He is way too well spoken, intelligent, and FUNNY to waste his talents on projects of mere mortals.  All hale Kevin Smith and his SuperWit!

Superman is getting Physical!

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 10 - 2011

It’s about time we get a Superman that can dish it out like the superhero he was meant to be. The last we saw him (in live-action form) his greatest threat in terms of physical strength was a giant block of kryptonite. Zack Snyder talked to SFX and gave a little hint on what to expect from his Superman film.

“I can’t really talk about that without being kind of specific,” says Snyder. “But I can say I think Superman needs to be physical.

This is a good thing, and knowing Zack, he’ll create some bone-crunching and visually appealing fight sequences. It’s time for Superman to fight a real nemesis (no offense Lex)

Here's what I think of when someone talks about Superman getting "physical".  No imagine the clip below in live action!

What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose, to show you how powerful I really am!"

Pa Kent to Return to Smallville, Once again.

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 8 - 2011

John Schneider has revealed (via Twitter) that he will be reprising his role of Jonathan Kent once again in the final episodes of Smallville. Schneider's tweet simply stated, "Back on the set of 'Smallville' and Loving it!" Clark's pop has been absent from the show since appearing in the premiere episode of the tenth and final season. There has been no official confirmation from the CW on Schneider's return or in what context he will appear.

Rumor Alert: Lindsay Lohan up for Superman leading lady?

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 8 - 2011

We've heard crazier rumors around these parts, but this one should certainly leave a sour taste in the mouths of hardcore 'Superman' fans. According to TMZ, Lindsay Lohan's "people" have informed them that the former actress-turned-troublemaker-turned-jewel-thief will be meeting with the 'Superman' "people" soon about a major part in Zack Snyder's upcoming film. Yes, Lindsay Lohan. And no, we're not lying — they're actually reporting that.

They claim the part isn't Lois Lane (phew), but it's a "major character." Could Lohan be among the other females auditioning for this mystery female role that Latino Review claims is the villainous Ursa? No way we can see La Lohan playing a believable Ursa in a major superhero reboot straight out of rehab/jail, but maybe Warner Bros. (who did not comment on the story) is looking at all different types of girls in their search for the right fit.

This news also begs the question: Has Lohan damaged her career to the point where it's just not worth casting her in anything? Sure, Warner Bros. can afford her insurance, but would they risk it on a film as big as this? We say no way in hell, but Hollywood always has a way of surprising us.

Would Lindsay Lohan being cast in 'Superman' completely turn you off from the upcoming film, or would you welcome that sort of risky addition?

Press Release from the CW Concerning Smallville Series Finale

Posted by SOS Staff On February - 7 - 2011

February 7, 2011 (Burbank, California) – The CW will present the series finale of SMALLVILLE as an epic two-hour television event on Friday, May 13 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET.)

The story of a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and his journey to become the Man of Steel has captivated audiences for a decade. This final season, Clark attempts to find a balance between saving the world, which becomes even more difficult as the Vigilante Registration Act separates a nation, and spending time with his new fiancée Lois Lane (Erica Durance). Whether it’s donning glasses as a disguise, changing in a phone booth or learning how to fly, this season has put Clark closer to his destiny than ever before. Taking on Darkseid and battling the darkest of his demons, this two-hour event will send Clark soaring towards his birthright to secure his place in history as the world’s greatest protector.

“Paying homage to 10 seasons is no small task, and wrapping up each character and story arc has been extremely important to everyone involved in the show,” said executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders. “We’re excited to be able to make the final moments of SMALLVILLE a television event, as the character we’ve grown up with makes his legendary transformation.”

Please note SUPERNATURAL will be pre-empted on May 13 but will return with a two-hour season finale on Friday, May 20 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET.)

Their take is a little harsh on the newly appointed, Superman, Henry Cavill. But are we really seeing another British Invasion?!
