Clark Kent's Daily Planet colleague Jimmy Olsen could change gender for the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel. Actress Rebecca Buller is listed as Jenny Olsen on the movie's IMDb page, leading to fan speculation that the character has been reinvented for Zack Snyder's film.
The most recent Man of Steel trailer featured a scene of Laurence Fishburne's Perry White and Buller running away from an explosion in Metropolis, suggesting that her character is a Daily Planet employee. Buller's role in the film has yet to be confirmed by Warner Bros or any official sources on the production. Jimmy Olsen, a photographer known as 'Superman's Pal', first appeared in Action Comics #6 in 1938.
While at the Sundance Film Festival, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was asked about the rumor of him appearing in Man Of Steel as Batman.
"I hadn't heard that one. It just goes to show how much you can believe rumors. I don't think you should believe in any of them. If there's something I'm going to be in, I'm going to tell you about it. I put it on my Twitter that I was in Sin City 2, so TRUST me, I'll tell you."
Hans Zimmer spoke on his theme for "Man of Steel" during an interview at the 2012 Festival Musique et Cinéma in Paris
"You do what you think is appropriate to the movie. So that's why with 'Man of Steel' I'm going to try to do something different. I have a very long theme. [Laughs] If you try to reinvent something, some times for better or for worse, you have to go and make it your own. You can't use somebody else's great idea."
DC Comics has unveiled its Superman: The Last Son of Krypton offering for Free Comic Book Day 2013. Scott Snyder and Jim Lee's forthcoming Superman monthly title will be previewed in the issue. It will also feature a reprint of the first issue of the 2006 'Last Son' storyline, which was written by Geoff Johns and Superman director Richard Donner.
