UPDATE:  Rumor has already been de-bunked!!

The latest from the "mill" is that a cameo of Lex Luthor will make it into the Man of Steel played by none other than the Hangover Star, Bradley Cooper!

According to Cosmic BookNews, a tip informed them that after Cooper's role in the upcoming adaptation of Milton's Paradise Lost fell through, the actor was recruited to make what will simply be a cameo in the upcoming Superman reboot as the iconic industrialist who emphasizes the "mega" in megalomaniac.

This rumor is certainly unconfirmed, "take with a grain of salt" material. However, stranger things have happened, and director, Zack Snyder may realistically want to plant the seeds for a potential sequel by including a Luthor cameo. (Whether he is played by Cooper, or someone else.)

DC Toys 7 Action figure fans have known about DC Direct's upcoming "New 52" figures for awhile, but Mattel will be delivering its share of updated toys in 2012 as well. CBR got a first look at Mattel's second wave of DC All-Stars figures coming in the new year, which will include Superman and the Flash in their "New 52" looks, plus Red Robin and Supergirl in costumes from DC's previous continuity. According to CBR's interview with Mattel's Associate Marketing Manager for DC Universe, Young Justice and Superman toys, Danielle McLachlan, additional characters sporting their new costumes from DC's relaunched titles will be available in 2012 as well.

In a recent chat about her role in The Muppets and her upcoming role in Man of Steel, Amy Adams said, “Henry Cavill is very Kermitty! There is a humility to Henry and that’s one of the reasons his Superman is going to be so compelling. He has this beautiful face and humble spirit and that’s really a hard combination to come upon.” 

The Muppets opens on 10 February 2012, with Man Of Steel following on 14 June 2013.

It's no surprise many of them chose Superman.  He is the most recognized American icon and perhaps, coincidently, he is the most Powerful Man in the World.

Lego will release a line of DC Universe Super Heroes figures and playsets in January 2012 (Sorry, not in time for the holidays!).   For Superman fans there's a "Superman vs. Power Armor Lex" set featuring minifigures of Superman, Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman. Superman's arch enemy Lex Luthor has built a kryptonite-powered robot and has captured Wonder Woman.   Can Superman dodge the strength-sapping power of Luthor's kryptonite gun and make light work of his evil nemesis??!
