Forget the skies of Metropolis, Superman’s coming to Cleveland!

A permanent exhibit paying tribute to Superman is opening in the airport in Cleveland — the city where the "man of steel" was created.

Relatives of Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster will be at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport Thursday night for the opening of the exhibit.

The Superman exhibit was put together by the Siegel and Shuster Society, a group formed to honor the boys who created a worldwide cultural icon in the midst of the Great Depression. Superman fans contributed about $50,000 for the exhibit.

Next summer marks 75 years since Superman first appeared in "Action Comics" No. 1, heralding a worldwide comic book industry. A near perfect copy of that 10 cent comic sold last year for $2.1 million.

The Wachowskis to Direct Justice League?

Following yesterday's comments by Ben Affleck that he is not working on the Justice League movie comes word that "The Matrix" trilogy helmers Andy and Lana Wachowski may be in contention for the job as well.

According to Moviehole, "Warner Bros are apparently jazzed with “Cloud Atlas”, and love that it’s as much a spectacle as it is a showcase for the immense ensemble involved, so it makes sense the W’s are under consideration." Besides bringing the blockbuster "Matrix" trilogy to the big screen, the Wachowkis co-wrote and produced the graphic novel adaptation V For Vendetta, and directed, wrote and produced Speed Racer. Warner Bros. will release their Cloud Atlas in theaters on October 26.

Will Beall is writing the script for Justice League, which is expected to include such popular characters as Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash.

Do you think the Wachowskis would be a good fit for this project?

“Superman: The Animated Series” Returns to Television

Fans of "Superman – The Animated Series" will once again have the opportunity to watch the hit series when it returns to television this September on The Hub Network.

Premiering September 6, 1996 on The WB Network, the animated series paid tribute to both the classic Superman of old and the newer "modern" Superman. For instance, the depiction of Krypton reflects the older idealized version in the Silver Age of Comic Books while the scope of Superman's powers reflect the more restrained contemporary concept as developed by John Byrne in that the superhero has to struggle to perform spectacular feats, while Clark Kent is shown to be openly, if quietly, self-confident.

Midway through the series' run, it was combined with The New Batman Adventures to become The New Batman/Superman Adventures.

Beginning September 3rd, the series will air Monday – Friday mornings at 9AM and Monday – Thursday evenings at 6:30PM.

Other 90's programs that The Hub has acquired for their new Fall season include "Sliders" and "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys."

The WB shutting down Direct-to-DVD

TheWrap.com reports that Warner Bros. will shut down their direct-to-video label Warner Premiere this month, citing the downturn in the home entertainment industry as the reason. "Given the continuing decline in the direct-to-video film market and shifting business models in the production of digital series, the decision was made to close Warner Premiere," the studio said in a statement to TheWrap. The division will continue and complete production on its remaining film and digital series project into the Fall." The Warner Premiere division will be absorbed into the digital distribution, animation and home video units.
