Supergirl Taylor Swift?!

Posted by SOS Staff On December - 22 - 2009

Taylor Swift is being lined up to play Supergirl in a new film!

(according to reports.)

The star is apparently film bosses first choice for the big role, despite having only acted in one film so far. She appears opposite Taylor Lautner in rom-com Valentine’s Day- which is released, er, you can guess. A source told Bang Showbiz: “A number of young stars are being mentioned for the title role in a Supergirl movie and possible TV spinoff, and Taylor is top of that list. She has all the right elements to be a positive role model to young girls.” Swift has had a massive 2009 becoming one of the biggest selling artists in the world and winning countless awards.

Krypton discovered!!

Posted by SOS Staff On December - 18 - 2009

Like the planet Krypton, astronomers have discovered a planet, larger than Earth, orbiting around a red sun.

The alien world known as GJ 1214b orbits a red dwarf star one-fifth the size of our own sun, 40 light-years away in the constellation Ophiuchus, the astronomers reported in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature.

Astronomers say they have detected a planet just six and a half times as massive as Earth – at a distance so close its atmosphere could be studied, and with a density so low it's almost certain to have abundant water.

You can read all about the discover at MSN.com.

Posted by SOS Staff On December - 16 - 2009

'Batman: Under the Red Hood' looks to be the title of the next DC Universe animated feature film, following February's 'Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths'.

A feature at Blu-Ray.com unveiling the contents of the 'Crisis' Blu-Ray release, lists of preview of the next DCU release and thereby drops the name of the film. War of the SUPERMEN!

Posted by SOS Staff On December - 13 - 2009

For months and months, DC fans have heard that the "Superman: New Krypton" concept was building to something big in 2010. Today DC Comics has revealed that "something big" to be an event called "War of the Superman."

The publisher is still keeping most details under wraps, though it has announced that "War of the Supermen #0" will hit on May 1, 2010 as its' DC Universe Free Comic Book Day title. James Robinson and Eddy Barrows will be handling that issue.

DC's Source blog offered this quote from Superman Group Editor Matt Idelson:

"War of the Supermen is the culmination of literally years of stories in the Super-books, all building to a destructive conflict which can have no victors. This Free Comic Book Day #0 issue is going to show the readers that no cows are sacred, and that they don't want to miss this event."

In terms of structure, a Techland interview with Idelson seems to point to a core mini-series surrounded by the usual Superman-related tie-ins. There is no indication this will grow to the size of Blackest Night.

At this point, we don't know much more. In his brief interview, Idelson did hint that Batman might take a stand against the Man of Steel.

A “Kick-Ass” Movie! I can already tell!

I feel just like this guy (the narrator). I've always wondered as a kid why there were no real "superheroes" out there in the real world. Sure pulling off being a Superman would be near impossible, but what about Batman or Iron Man? All it would take is alotta money, a costume, a mask, and some serious skills and/or ambition. You think someone could really pull it off or should the lines of fantasy and fiction not be crossed?

Let us know what you think.

Amazon.com has just posted "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths" for pre-order!  The DVD comes in the following formats/editions:

The movie is an original story from award-winning animation/comics writer Dwayne McDuffie ("Justice League") rooted in DC Comics' popular canon of "Crisis" stories. Bruce Timm is executive producer. Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu are co-directors.

A "good" Lex Luthor (Chris Noth) arrives from an alternate universe to recruit the Justice League to help save his Earth from the Crime Syndicate, a gang of villainous characters with virtually identical super powers to the Justice League. What ensues is the ultimate battle of good versus evil in a war that threatens both planets and, through a diabolical plan launched by Owlman (James Woods), puts the balance of all existence in peril.

Mark Harmon voices Superman, William Baldwin is Batman, Gina Torres plays Super Woman and Bruce Davison voices the President.
