NEW YORK – A rare copy of the Action comic book that launched Superman as the first superhero is coming up for auction. Comic book expert Stephen Fishler says bidding for the comic book begins at $1 and is sure to go up, up and away. It originally cost 10 cents in 1938. He says copies of Action Comics No. 1 in "fine" condition are worth about $126,000, but this one could sell for several times that. About 100 copies of the No. 1 edition are known to exist. The owner, who was not identified, bought the sale magazine for 35 cents in 1950 and held onto it for 58 years. It will be on auction for two weeks beginning TODAY! (Ironically February 29th has often been pinned as Superman’s birthday due to the fact of the leap year. This accounts for his youthful appearance seeing that his birthday occurs only once every four years!) Fishler and Vincent Zurzolo, co-owners of Metropolis Collectibles, will offer it on their Web site, http://www.comicconnect.com. As I write this I have been getting reports that bidding has exceeded a quarter of a million dollars so far!! |

Action Comics #1 can be yours! (if you can spare some change)
Sexy and Magical..What more could you ask for?!
|
Watch out Smallville!! Another sexy hero is on her way to visit! and it is none other than the lovely mistress of magic, Zatanna. Serinda Swan (Zatanna) will be appearing in the episode entitled Hex, and as you may know Zatanna is a DC original character. So way to go Smallville for looking back on your roots!
Smallville’s executive producer Brian Peterson descibes Zatanna’s appearance as follows: Our Zatanna is basically the same character that everyone’s familiar with, only there’s a Smallville twist. We’re catching her before she has control of her powers. You’ll get a chance to see Zatanna bring a heavy dose of magic into Clark Kent’s life when Hex airs on March 26. Smallville airs Thursday nights on the CW. The drama about the early days of Clark Kent stars Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Allison Mack, Aaron Ashmore, Justin Hartley, Cassidy Freeman and Sam Witwer. |

It’s official! Smallville has been picked up for another season..*sigh*

Let me first just say that I’ve never missed an episode of Smallville and that I’ve been loyal to the show even before it started in 2001. That being said I was really hoping they would end it this year. (Sorry, die-hard fans out there!) They have really exhausted their story lines and cut major cast members this year. Also, until recently, I let it slide that they made drastic changes to the Superman continuity. But, Doomsday vs. Clark…Really? come on! And now Clark at the Daily Planet with Lois and no Superman! Geez! With another season they’ll be grasping for material and stretching out the inevitable. Really though, what else can be said? He needs some snazzy red and blues and the ability to fly — The End. I’m really not trying to hate on Smallville. I just want to see them do justice to the characters (that are left!) and end it in a dignified way. We have all seen TV shows go bad and, if you ask me, Smallville is getting awfully ripe. |

“Superman Unleashed”
|
They were going to go with "Superman Returns, again" but thought unleashed sounded slightly better…..
We discovered a password protected page from the official Legendary Pictures website that lists “Superman Unleashed” as one of their upcoming films in development. The basic plot outline is:
“Ramping up the action of its esteemed predecessor, the sequel to ‘Superman Returns’ promises to raise the stakes and take the audience to heights of action that no other superhero movie can achieve.”
Also, we still don’t know who will direct the project, however it does look like Bryan Singer will not return for this one. |

Why Lois will never figure out Superman’s secret identity…
“Smallville” Returns March 12th
|
The re-appearance of Tori Spelling as Linda Lake in "Smallville" has been teased through a sneak peek. The show is currently taking a hiatus to come back on March 12th with the episode titled "Infamous". Linda Lake comes back to Smallville and blackmails Clark to uncover his true identity. However Clark decides he will reveal his secret by himself and a fanatic teenager fakes a fall so Clark saves her. Stephen Lobo plays Randall Brady, the Daily Planet’s new City Editor. The episode will also mark the reign of Lois and Clark. Executive producer Brian Peterson said, "Lois returns in a big way, as she finds her feelings for Clark increasingly rivaled by her quest to get closer to the enigmatic Red-Blue Blur." Linda Lake first appeared in a 2007 episode where she is hired by Lex to gather information that would bring down Clark. She has the ability to turn to water which she uses to find saucy stories for The Daily Planet. |

An explosion at LuthorCorp kills all the Board members and injures Oliver (Justin Hartley), who was there to announce the merger of his company with LutherCorp. Oliver believes that Lex is responsible for the blast, but Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) learn that the bomber is Winslow Schott (guest star Chris Gauthier), a toymaker and former Queen Industries employee with a grudge against Oliver. Michael Rohl directed the episode written by Holly Henderson & Don Whitehead. |
