It’s sadly too late for your summer jam mix-tapes, but DC Comics has announced that it’s releasing a compilation of nearly every single DC-based movie, cartoon, live-action TV show theme song later this year. Along with stuff that’s been kicking around forever like John Williams’ Superman theme and the familiar opening to the 1960s Batman TV show, DC’s The Music Of DC Comics: 75th Anniversary Collection also contains many previously unreleased rarities like the long-lost soundtracks to the Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Hawkman cartoons, dating back to the music from Max Fleischer’s Superman. As Topless Robot says, just about the only glaring omission is the theme from the new Teen Titans (though we're sure you'll point out more), but at 31 tracks, you’ll still have plenty of mood music. Superman and others incite riot in LA…well, not yet anyways

Posted by SOS Staff On August - 31 - 2010

Superman, Batman, Charlie Chaplin, Darth Vader and many others marched on City Hall in Los Angeles today to protest the LAPD ban on costumed characters appearing outside Graiman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

You'll recall that well-known Superman fan and Christopher Reeve look-alike Christopher Dennis was recently arrested in Hollywood by the LAPD during their recent crack down on costumed characters. Dennis and friends got together to record a short video via Craigslist TV.

Producers at Craigslist TV planned to record the demonstration. We'll let you know if and when it's posted online.

The Source, DC Comics' official blog, reports that Cincinnati will be Superman's third stop on his walking tour across the nation. Offering possible clues as to where the Man of Steel will stop around the city in issue No. 703, The Source states that Superman will visit the "home of baseball's Reds and the NFL's Bengals and one of the largest historic districts in the country".

In the new storyline entitled "Grounded", the Man of Steel began his walking tour of the nation in Philadelphia and then toured Detroit. The 12-issue series features Superman attempting to reconnect with his adopted home and the people who inhabit it. DC held a contest for Superman fans to nominate a city for inclusion in the "Grounded" storyline, but it's not clear whether DC writers had already planned to include Cincinnati in the series or whether they chose it because readers campaigned for Cincinnati.

Issue No. 703 hits stores in September.

I am assuming this first image is from the episode "Homecoming" (When Lois and Clark return to Smallville for their high school reunion)  Any takers as to who is doing the crucifying and why??  Smallville enthusiasts should have no problem with this one!

This picture is probably from the premier episode: "Lazarus"  So how do all of you think Jonathan returns from the dead?  Is it a dream? a flashback? or something else?  Leave your guess in the comments below..

Justice League: The movie that never was :(

Posted by SOS Staff On August - 14 - 2010

At a recent press conference for "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", comedian Jay Baruchel dished a little on what director George Miller originally had planned for the now canceled Justice League film.

"I'll just say this, if we had been able to make the movie that we had gone down [to Australia] to rehearse, if you had seen the production art I'd seen… it would've been the coolest thing ever. It would have been the neatest vision of Batman and the coolest vision of Superman you've ever seen. It would have been dark and fairly brutal and quite gory and just epic."

When Miller stepped aboard in 2008, the director moved full steam ahead and after enduring what Baruchel called a "…blogosphere [that] was not very kind to us," the project was shelved, and Miller was out. So what happened? According to Baruchel, it all came down to a price tag (upwards of $300 million) that would've made Justice League of America "the single most expensive movie in the history of movies."

With "The Green Lantern" movie on it's way next year as well as a third Batman film and a rebooted Superman franchise, DC could finally be put back on the map and eventually release a Justice League movie somewhere down the road.
